Chiffre is short for "Chiffrement", which means encryption.
The subject of this motion design is cryptology, and more specifically where it comes from and how it has evolved. This video is used in the first part of an e-learning module to present the historical context, followed by training on the company's own cryptology system.
So, for this project, I got the script from which I designed the storyboard with the help of two other colleagues. The idea was to add touches of humor with popular cultural references to keep the learner's attention and not give the impression of an overly long video.
I started with some quick sketches, then boards in Adobe Illustrator and finally a Story-board in Power-Point to give an idea of how it would look.
The video begins with the character Julie, who is presented throughout the module, taking on a Chibi form specific to the video. She is placed in front of a timeline that serves as a reference point for the chaptering of the motion design.
The story begins with a tour of cities in antiquity, then moves forward in time according to anecdotes related to the subject.
Then comes the section on the World Wars.
The video ends with a horizontal tracking through contemporary times.
