CONTEXT

The motion design project introducing the history of cryptology in a e-learning module. I worked from a provided script to design the storyboard in collaboration.

To structure the narrative, we introduced the module's main character in a Chibi-style design and placed her along a timeline that guided the chaptering of the motion design. The storyboard was developed using Adobe Illustrator and PowerPoint to ensure clarity and efficient collaboration.

The story progresses through key historical moments, supported by a voice-over, while we integrated diverse pop-culture references to capture attention and enhance engagement throughout the learning experience.

The motion design is structured around two major chapters: the origins of cryptology in ancient civilizations, followed by the significant advancements made during the two World War.

These World War II sequence is inspired by Morten Tyldum's film, The Imitation Game, 2014, focusing on the breakthroughs of the era.

The video concludes with a horizontal tracking shot transitioning into contemporary cryptology with the rise of computers, and finally opens toward the future of encryption algorithms.

I regulary work with my motion designer colleague Gilles Miko on video production. He produced the animation for this video.
